Funeral offering

Taiwan

The family of a deceased person, probably of some status, gather around a pile of ritual money which is burnt as an offering to the spirit of the deceased. The general idea being that the spirit will now have plenty of money in heaven as the ritual money goes up to heaven in smoke. The mourners wear a hood and robe of rough fabric as a hardship, to show that they are grieving.
