Bcause of its climate, Afghanistan produces some of the world's best melons: watermelons, cantalopes, honeydew, and many native varieties. To haul them around farmers use a hand barrow, which works better than a wheel-barrow on unpaved, muddy streets. Central Asia was long famous for it's lack of wheels. One theory is the prevelance of wind strewn silt and sand quickly covered any paving, making wheels useless.
