Mosque inside

Srinagar, Kashmir

A religious class meets in a Srinagar mosque. Traditionally the Kashmiris were tolerant Moslems, living among many Hindus and Sikhs. Most Kashmiris did not have a fundamentalist Islamic orientation. Those most interested in furthering their spiritual strengths gravitated to the mystical direction of sufiism.
